Monroe County Friends of Animals Thrift Store:
SNAP program - For CATS ONLY: Free Spay/Neuter Vouchers & Rabies Shots
A Special Outreach Program (SOP) grant of $5000 was provided to SNAP by Maddie's Fund to spay/neuter cats for low income residents of Monroe County. Free spay/neuter surgeries and Free rabies shots are provided for CATS ONLY. SOP Sterilization surgeries and vaccinations are provided by People Promoting Animal Welfare (PPAW) in Greenback. Dogs are NOT included in this grant. For information, call or leave message at 865-659-1905 or contact Sherri Murphy on Facebook (bio ref -Mastercraft) Vouchers can be obtained for all Monroe County cats, pet cats, free roaming cats, neighborhood cats, barnyard cats, or any cat that can be put in a container and delivered to PPAW. Please consider offering a foster home to help the pets at Second Chance Pals (SCP), a program of Monroe County Friends of Animals. These foster homes help older and/or sick pets that need more assistance than the usual homeless pet. They often cannot be treated until they have a foster home commitment where they can safely stay until their recovery needs are met. Veterinary care and expenses are provided for their treatments and they are closely monitored. Monroe County Animal Shelter is partnered with Finding Rover, a free service that helps reunite lost dogs and cats with their families, using facial recognition technology. As a partner, the community can now see if their lost pet is in our care with just a few clicks. We encourage everyone to register with a personal Finding Rover account by going to www.FindingRover.com.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Animal Control is administered through the Sheriff's office. Call the Sheriff's office at 423-442-3911 to report cases of stray animals, animal endangerment or abuse/neglect. Please do not call the shelter.
