Have you been to the MCFA Thrift Store run by volunteers of The Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA)?
MCFA Thrift Store: It's located at 3949 Highway 411 in Madisonville (across from Kentucky Fried Chicken). If you haven't been there for a while, you might be missing out on some tremendous bargains. New merchandise arrives daily and is priced to move. Clothing, shoes,
furniture, kitchen ware, bedding, appliances, books - we've got it all. Donations are greatly appreciated and are accepted Wednesday-Saturday from 10 am-3:30 pm. All proceeds go to help the homeless animals of Monroe County. Shopping hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and worker volunteers are always in high demand. Like us on Facebook for up to date sale information. 423-420-3423.
SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance for Pets) offers free vouchers to qualifying families for a spay or neuter procedure at participating local veterinarians. The next voucher session will be held Saturday, June 15th, at the Cora Veal Senior Center in Madisonville, 10-11am. Vouchers are available to qualified Monroe County residents. If you are in another county, you can visit this webpage to find options close to you www.spaytennessee.org. PPAW in Greenback also offers low cost altering at their clinic for anyone who does not meet the voucher income or county qualifications. Take advantage of these no or low cost opportunities available to EVERYONE. Be part of the solution!
Please consider offering a foster home to help the pets at Second Chance Pals (SCP), a program of Monroe County Friends of Animals. These foster homes help older and/or sick pets that need more assistance than the usual homeless pet. They often cannot be treated until they have a foster home commitment where they can safely stay until their recovery needs are met. Veterinary care and expenses are provided for their treatments and they are closely monitored.
Monroe County Animal Shelter is partnered with Finding Rover, a free service that helps reunite lost dogs and cats with their families, using facial recognition technology. As a partner, the community can now see if their lost pet is in our care with just a few clicks. We encourage everyone to register with a personal Finding Rover account by going to www.FindingRover.com.
All funds are used for animal care including veterinarian fees,
antibiotics, testing, vaccinations, flea and heartworm control, cat litter and sanitary litter boxes.
The Monroe County Animal Shelter is at 170 Kefauver Lane in Madisonville (behind Wal-Mart) and is open Tues-Fri 11-4:30 and
