Spay/Neuter Assistance for Pets, Inc
(SNAP)

Spay/Neuter Assistance for Pets, Inc. (SNAP) will issue free spay/neuter vouchers to low income Monroe County Residents on February 9th at Madisonville Cora Veal Senior Center from 10 to 11am .
(click here for more info).

A pet owner can receive multiple vouchers. For information on how to qualify, contact Mike or Susan Cleverdon (423-884-6801).

We would like to see more cats (including barn cats) using our spay/neuter vouchers. House cats and outdoor cats can be placed in a carrier to take to the vet.

Please do not bring your pets to the voucher sessions ... VOUCHERS ONLY will be issued at the session.

  (Adoptions include Dobbie who was in the Second Chance Pals program. (See her story on their website under "Success Stories"). Second Chance Pals was created by Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA) to call attention to the plight of older shelter pets, who through no fault of their own, often find themselves in our Shelter. Our mission is to provide a second chance to at-risk adult dogs and cats in Monroe County by finding foster or other temporary care until a forever home can be found.)

                   

Spring is coming! Are you ready? Check out the MCFA Thrift Store run entirely by volunteers. We have clean, gently used items at great prices. Are you getting an early start on your Spring cleaning? Donate to the store (and the animals). Donations are greatly appreciated and are accepted Wednesday-Saturday from 10 am-3:30 pm. All proceeds go to help the homeless animals of Monroe County. It's located at 3949 Highway 411 in Madisonville (across from Kentucky Fried Chicken).

Along with the new location of the Monroe County Friends of Animals Thrift Store comes a brand-new Facebook page at Thrift Store of MCFA.Ā  Forget the old and check out what's new and exciting on Facebook! Like us on Facebook for up to date sale information.

Monroe County Animal Shelter is now partnered with Finding Rover, a free service that helps reunite lost dogs and cats with their families, using facial recognition technology. As a partner, the community can now see if their lost pet is in our care with just a few clicks. We encourage everyone to register with a personal Finding Rover account by going to www.FindingRover.com.

  • Friskies canned pate flavors.
  • Purina One dry cat & kitten food.
  • Donations via PayPal can be made from our website www.monroecountyfriendsofanimals.org
  • Or checks may be mailed to MCFA, PO Box 106, Vonore, TN 37885.
All funds are used for animal care including veterinarian fees, antibiotics, testing, vaccinations, flea and heartworm control, cat litter and sanitary litter boxes.

The Monroe County Animal Shelter is at 170 Kefauver Lane in Madisonville (behind Wal-Mart) and is open Tues-Fri 11-4:30 and Saturdays 11-2. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. IMPORTANT NOTE: Animal Control is administered through the Sheriff's office. Call the Sheriff's office at 423-442-3911 to report cases of stray animals, animal endangerment or abuse/neglect. Please do not call the shelter.
